484、应当知道,一切行为和作为都与道德和民事生活有关,因而涉及到诚实和正直、公平和公义。诚实和正直属于道德生活,公平和公正属于民事生活。行为来自爱,这些爱,要么属天堂,要么属地狱。出于天堂之爱的道德和民事生活的行为和作为,就是属天堂的,因为出于天堂之爱所行的,都是出于主而行的,凡出于主所行的都是良善;相反,出于地狱之爱的道德和民事生活的行为和作为,便是属地狱的,因为凡出于这种爱的,也就是自我之爱和世界之爱所行的,都是凭自己而行的。凡是凭自己所行的,本质上都是邪恶。因为人就其自身或他的自我而言,全然是邪恶。{注1}

{注1}:人的自我本性就是爱自己胜过爱上帝,爱世界胜过爱天堂,与自己相比,邻舍微不足道。因此,它在于爱自己和爱世界(6947314317)。人生在这种自我中,它是浓重的邪恶(210215731874-8769871047230723083518370138128480855010283102841028610732)。不但一切邪恶,而且一切伪谬都源于人的自我(1047102831028410286)。出于人自我的邪恶就是蔑视他人、敌意、仇恨、报复、残忍和欺骗(666773707373737493481003810742)。人的自我在何等程度上主导,爱的良善和信的真理就在何等程度上要么被拒绝,要么被窒息,要么被歪曲(204174917492764384871045510742)。人的自我就是他里面的地狱(6948480)。人出于自我所行的良善并非良善,本质上是邪恶(8480)。

484. We do need to know that all works and deeds are matters of moral and civic life and therefore focus on what is honest and right and what is fair and equitable. What is honest and right is a matter of moral life, and what is fair and equitable is a matter of civic life. The love these come from is either heavenly or hellish. The works and deeds of our moral and civic life are heavenly if we do them from a heavenly love, because things that we do from a heavenly love we do from the Lord, and everything we do from the Lord is good. On the other hand, the deeds and works of our moral and civic life are hellish if they come from a hellish love, since whatever we do from this love, which is a love for ourselves and the world, we do from ourselves, and whatever we do from ourselves is intrinsically evil. In fact, seen in our own right, or in terms of what is actually ours, we are nothing but evil. 1

484. It is to be known that all works and deeds pertain to moral and civil life, and therefore have regard to what is honest and right, and what is just and equitable; what is honest and right pertaining to moral life, and what is just and equitable to civil life. The love from which deeds are done is either heavenly or infernal. Works and deeds of moral and civil life, when they are done from heavenly love, are heavenly; for what is done from heavenly love is done from the Lord, and everything done from the Lord is good. But the deeds and works of moral and civil life when done from infernal love are infernal; for the things that are done from this love, which is the love of self and of the world, are done from man himself, and everything that is done from man himself is in itself evil; for man regarded in himself, that is, in regard to what is his proprium, is nothing but evil. 1
