Heaven and Hell #30 (NCE, 2000)

30. The deeper levels of the human mind and disposition are in a similar pattern as well. We have a central, intermediate, and outmost nature. This is because when humanity was created the whole divine design was gathered into it, to the point that as to structure, the human being is the divine design and is therefore a heaven in miniature. 1For the same reason we are in touch with heaven as to our inner natures and come into the company of angels after death - of angels of the central or the intermediate or the outmost heaven depending on our acceptance of divine good and truth from the Lord during our earthly lives.

Footnotes:

1. All the elements of the divine design are gathered into the human, and by creation the human is, structurally, the divine design: 4219-4220 [4222?], 4223, 4523-4524, 5114, 5368 [3628, 5168], 6013, 6057, 6605, 6626, 9706, 10156, 10472. Within the human individual, the inner person is structured in the likeness of heaven and the outer in the likeness of earth, which is why the ancients called the human a microcosm: 4523, 5368 [3628, 5115], 6013, 6057, 9279, 9706, 10156, 10472. So by creation, the human being is a miniature heaven as to inward things, a mirror of the macrocosm, and so too is the person who has been created anew or regenerated by the Lord: 911, 1900, 1982 [1928?], 3624-3631, 3634, 3884, 4041, 4279, 4523-4524, 4625, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9632.

Heaven and Hell #30 (Harley, 1958)

30. The interiors of a man which belong to his internal mind (mens) and his external mind (animus) are also in like order. He has an inmost, a middle and an outermost part. For when man was created, all things of Divine order were brought together in him, so that he became Divine order in form, and consequently, a heaven in the least form. 1For this reason man, as regards his interiors, has communication with the heavens. Also he comes, after death, among angels, among those of the inmost, middle or outermost heaven in accordance with the reception of Divine good and truth from the Lord while he lived in the world.

Footnotes:

1. All things of Divine order are brought together in man, and by creation man is Divine order in form (Arcana Coelestia 3628, 4219-4220, 4223, 4523-4524, 5114, 5608, 6013, 6057, 6605, 6626, 9706, 10156, 10472).

In man the internal man was formed after the image of heaven, and the external after the image of the world, and this is why man was called by the ancients a microcosm (Arcana Coelestia 4523, 5608, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9706, 10156, 10472).

Thus man in respect of his interiors is by creation a heaven in least form after the image of the greatest; and such also man becomes when he has been created anew or regenerated by the Lord (Arcana Coelestia 911, 1900, 1928, 3624-3631, 3634, 3884, 4041, 4279, 4523-4524, 4625, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9632).

Heaven and Hell #30 (Ager, 1900)

30. The interiors of man, which belong to his mind and disposition, are also in like order. He has an inmost, a middle, and an outmost part; for when man was created all things of Divine order were brought together in him, so that he became Divine order in form, and consequently a heaven in miniature. 1For this reason also man, as regards his interiors, has communication with the heavens and comes after death among the angels, either among those of the inmost, or of the middle, or of the outmost heaven, in accordance with his reception of Divine good and truth from the Lord during his life in the world.

Footnotes:

1. All things of Divine order are brought together in man, and by creation man is Divine order in form (Arcana Coelestia 3628, 4219-4220, 4223, 4523-4524, 5114, 5168, 6013, 6057, 6605, 6626, 9706, 10156, 10472).

In man the internal man was formed after the image of heaven, and the external after the image of the world, and this is why man was called by the ancients a microcosm (3628, 4523, 5115, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9706, 10156, 10472).

Thus man in respect to his interiors is by creation a heaven in least form after the image of the greatest; and such also man becomes when he has been created anew or regenerated by the Lord (911, 1900, 1928, 3624-3631, 3634, 3884, 4041, 4279, 4523-4524, 4625, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9632).

De Coelo et de Inferno #30 (original Latin)

Footnotes:

1. Quod in hominem omnia Divini ordinis collata sint, et quod homo a creatione sit Divinis ordo in forma (4219, 4220, [4222?] 4223, 4523, 4524, 5114, 5368 [3628, 5168?], 6013, 6057, 6605, 6626, 9706, 10156, 10472).

Quod apud hominem internus ejus homo formatus sit ad imaginem caeli, et externus ad imaginem mundi, et quod ideo homo ab antiquis dictus sit microcosmus (4523, 5368 [3628, 5115?], 6013, 6057, 9279, 9706, 10156, 10472).

Quod sic homo ex creatione quoad interiora sua sit caelum in minima effigie ad imaginem maximi, et quod etiam talis sit homo qui e novo creatus est seu regeneratus a Domino (911, 1900, 1982 [1928?], 3624-3631, 3634, 3884, 4041, 4279, 4523, 4524, 4625, 6013, 6057, 9279, 9632).
