68# “祂的眼睛如同火焰”表示出于神性之爱的圣治。这从“眼睛”和“火焰”的含义清楚可知:“眼睛”是指理解力(参看AE37节),论及主时是指同在,因而是指圣治(参看《属天的奥秘》,3869, 10569节),对此,下文会详述;“火焰”在论及主时,是指神性之爱。“火焰”之所以表示神性之爱,是因为主在天堂显为一轮太阳,从祂发出的神性如同光,在至内层或第三层天堂如同火光,在中间层或第二层天堂如同明亮的白光。那如此显现的,正是神性之爱本身。因此,在圣言中,“火”和“火焰”表示爱,这一点从《属天的奥秘》一书中的说明清楚看出来,即:在圣言中,“火”表示各层意义上的爱(934, 4906, 5215节)。神圣的天堂之火是神性之爱和属于这爱的一切情感(934, 6314, 6832节)。热有两个来源,一个是世界的太阳,地上的一切事物都凭该太阳而生长;另一个是天堂的太阳,也就是主,天使和世人都从该太阳获得其生命的一切(3338, 5215, 7324节)。爱是生命之火,生命本身实际上由此而来(4906, 5071, 6032, 6314节)。火焰是源于至内层天堂的良善的真理,光是源于中间层天堂的良善的真理(3222, 6832节);原因在于,光在至内层天堂显为火焰,在中间层天堂显得亮白(9570节;以及《天堂与地狱》,116–140节)。当论及主时,“眼睛”表示圣治,是因为当论及人时,它们表示理解力;神性理解力因是无限的,故是圣治。在以赛亚书,耶和华的“眼或眼目、眼睛”并不表示别的:

耶和华啊,求你侧耳而听;耶和华啊,求你睁眼而看。(以赛亚书37:17)

耶利米书:

我必注目好待他们,领他们归回他们的地,我也要建立他们。(耶利米书24:6)

诗篇:

看哪,耶和华的眼目在那敬畏祂的人身上。(诗篇33:18)

又:

耶和华在祂的圣殿里,祂的眼睛观看,祂的眼皮察验人子。(诗篇11:4)
