Potts(1905-1910) 6007

6007. And I will cause thee to go up, even in going up. That this signifies elevation afterward, is evident from the signification of "going up," as being elevation (see n. 3084, 4539, 5406, 5817). The elevation which is here signified is from memory-knowledges to things more interior. For after memory-knowledges have been filled with truths (according to what was said above, n. 6004), the man is elevated from memory-knowledges toward things more interior, and then the memory-knowledges serve him as the ultimate plane of his mental activities (intuitionum). To be elevated toward things more interior is to think more interiorly, and at last as a spirit and as an angel; for the more interiorly thought proceeds, the more perfect it is, because it is nearer the influx of truth and good from the Lord. (That thought is more interior and more exterior may be seen, n. 5127, 5141.)

Elliott(1983-1999) 6007

6007. 'And I will certainly cause you to come up also' means a raising up after that. This is clear from the meaning of 'going up' as a raising up, dealt with in 3084, 4539, 5406, 5817. The raising up meant here is an advance from factual knowledge to more internal ideas. For after such knowledge has been filled with truths in the way stated above in 6004, a person is raised up from it towards more internal ideas; and once that is done the factual knowledge serves him as the groundwork for his contemplations. Being raised up towards more internal ideas is thinking on a more internal level, and at length as spirits and angels do. The more internal the level to which thought rises, the more perfect it becomes because it is closer to the inflow of truth and goodness from the Lord. For thought can exist on more internal or more external levels, 5127, 5141.

Latin(1748-1756) 6007

@1 i naturalis, et ad rationalia$ @2 i mox supra$ @3 i est$ @4 Divino$
