  3487.前面的话,就是前一章头几节(3353-3356节) 所解释的话描述了教会堕落的最初状态,也就是人们开始不再知道何为良善,何为真理,并就此彼此争论,由此导致虚假产生之时的状态。现在所引用的这些话则描述了教会堕落的第二个状态,也就是人们蔑视良善与真理,而且还憎恶它们,以致对主之信随着仁爱走向尽头而逐渐气绝。

3487. By the words that precede and that have been already unfolded (n. 3353-3356), there was described the first state of the perversion of the church, which was that they would begin no longer to know what is good and what is true; but would dispute about it among themselves, from which falsities would originate. By the words now cited there is described the second state of the perversion of the church, which is that they would despise good and truth, and also turn away from them and thus that faith in the Lord would step by step expire, as charity would cease.

3487. The words which come before these and which were explained in 3353-3356 are a description of the first state of the perversion of the Church - a state when people will cease to know any longer what goodness is and what truth is, and will start to argue with one another about these, with the result that falsities arise. The words in the present section however describe the second state of the perversion of the Church - a state when people will treat goodness and truth with contempt and will also loathe them, so that faith in the Lord will breathe its last, doing so by degrees as charity comes to an end.
