Potts(1905-1910) 2914

2914. Verse 4. I am a sojourner and a dweller with you; give me a possession of a sepulcher with you, and I will bury my dead from before me. "I am a sojourner and a dweller with you," signifies their first state, that although the Lord was unknown to them, still He could be with them; "give me a possession of a sepulcher with you" signifies that they might be regenerated; "and I will bury my dead from before me," signifies that thus He would come forth and rise again from the night which is with them.

Elliott(1983-1999) 2914

2914. Verse 4 I am a stranger and an inhabitant among you; give me possession of a grave among you, and I will bury my dead from before me.

'I am a stranger and an inhabitant among you' means their first state when, although the Lord was not known to them, He was nevertheless able to be with them. 'Give me possession of a grave among you' means that they were able to be regenerated. 'And I will bury my dead from before me' means that He would emerge and rise up out of the night prevailing among them.

Latin(1748-1756) 2914

2914. Vers. 4. Peregrinus et incola ego vobiscum, date mihi possessionem sepulcri vobiscum, et sepeliam mortuum meum a coram me. `Peregrinus et incola ego vobiscum' significat statum illorum primum, quod tametsi Dominus illis ignotus, usque apud illos esse posset `date mihi possessionem sepulcri vobiscum' significat quod regenerari possent: `et sepeliam mortuum meum a coram me' significat quod sic a nocte quae apud illos, emergeret et resurgeret.
