Potts(1905-1910) 2650

2650. Verse 9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne unto Abraham, mocking. "Sarah saw," signifies the Lord's insight from the Divine spiritual; "the son of Hagar the Egyptian," signifies into the merely human rational; "Hagar the Egyptian" is the affection of memory-knowledges, of which as a mother that rational was born; "whom she had borne unto Abraham," signifies that it came forth from the Divine celestial as a father; "mocking" signifies not in agreement with or favoring the Divine rational.

Elliott(1983-1999) 2650

2650. Verse 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

'And Sarah saw' means the Lord's insight from the Divine spiritual. 'The son of Hagar the Egyptian' means into the merely human rational, 'Hagar the Egyptian' being the affection for knowledge, from which affection as its mother that rational was born. 'Whom she had borne to Abraham' means that it was given manifestation from the Divine celestial as a father. 'Mocking' means not in agreement with or favourably disposed towards the Divine Rational.

Latin(1748-1756) 2650

2650. Vers. 9. Et vidit Sarah filium Hagaris Aegyptiae, quem peperit Abrahamo, illudentem. `Et vidit Sarah' significat intuitionem Domini ex Divino spirituali: `filium Hagaris Aegyptiae' significat in rationale mere humanum; `Hagar Aegyptia' est affectio scientiarum, ex qua rationale illud ut a matre natum: `quem peperit Abrahamo' significat quod a Divino caelesti ut a patre exstiterit: `illudentem' significat non congruum et favens Divino Rationali.
