1我看见坐宝座的右手中有书卷，里面和背面都写着字，用七印封严了。2我又看见一位强有力的天使，大声宣告，有谁配打开那书卷，松开那七印呢？3在天上，地上，地底下，没有人能打开、能观看那书卷。4于是我就大哭，因为发现没有人配打开、阅读、观看那书卷。5长老中有一位对我说，不要哭；看哪，来自犹大支派的狮子，大卫的根，已经得胜，能打开那书卷，松开那七印。6我又观看，看哪，在宝座与四活物中间，并长老中间，有羔羊站立，像是被杀过的，有七角七眼，就是神的七灵，被派往全地。7这羔羊前来，从坐宝座的右手里拿了书卷。8当他拿书卷的时候，四活物和二十四位长老，就俯伏在羔羊面前，各拿着竖琴和盛满了香的金炉，就是众圣徒的祈祷。 9他们唱新歌，说，你配拿书卷并打开其印；因为你曾被杀，用自己的血从各支派、舌头、人民、民族中救赎我们归于神；10又叫我们成为君王和祭司，归于我们的神；我们要在地上掌权。11我又看见，我听见宝座与活物并长老的周围，有许多天使的声音；他们的数目有万万千千；12大声说，曾被杀的羔羊，配得权柄，财富，智慧，尊贵，荣耀，祝福。13我又听见在天上，地上、地底下和海里的一切被造之物，并其中的一切，都说，愿祝福，尊贵，荣耀，权势，都归给坐宝座的和羔羊，直到世世代代或永永远远。14四活物就说，阿们；二十四位长老也俯伏敬拜那活到世世代代的。

“我看见坐宝座的右手中”表示全能和全知方面的主(297, 298节)；“有书卷，里面和背面都写着字”表示天上和地上所有人的生命状态，无论总体还是细节(299节)；“用七印封严了”表示完全隐藏(300节)。
296. CHAPTER 5.
1. AND I saw the right hand of him that sat upon the throne, a book written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
2. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3. And no one in heaven, neither upon the earth, nor under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon.
4. And I wept much, that no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look therein.
5. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion which is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
6. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four animals, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.
7. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8. And when he had taken the book, the four animals and the four-and-twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
9. And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue, and people and nation;
10. And thou hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the animals and the elders: and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands;
12. Saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13. And every created thing, which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and strength, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne and unto the Lamb to ages of ages.
14. And the four animals said, Amen. And the four-and-twenty elders fell down and adored him that liveth unto ages of ages.
THE EXPLANATION.
VERSE 1. And I saw in the right hand of him that sat upon the throne, a book written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
"And I saw in the right hand of him that sat upon the throne," signifies the Lord as to omnipotence and as to omniscience: "a book written within and on the back," signifies the state of life of all in heaven and on earth, in general and in particular: "sealed with seven seals," signifies, altogether hidden.
296. APOCALYPSE. CHAPTER 5.
1. And I saw in the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne a book written within and on the back, sealed up with seven seals.
2. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3. And no one was able, in heaven nor upon the earth nor under the earth, to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4. And I wept much, that no one was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
5. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath overcome to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

7. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne.
8. And when He had taken the book, the four animals and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one harps, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
9. And they were singing a new song, saying, Worthy art Thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; for Thou wast slain, and didst redeem us to God in Thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue, and people and nation;
10. And hast made us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign upon the earth.
11. And I saw, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the animals and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands;
12. Saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and honor, and glory, and blessing.
13. And every created thing that is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and those that are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Unto Him that sitteth upon the throne and unto the Lamb be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might, unto the ages of the ages.
14. And the four animals said, Amen; and the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped Him that liveth unto the ages of the ages.
EXPOSITION.
Verse 1 (297, 298); "a book written within and on the back," signifies the state of life of all in heaven and on the earth, in general and in particular n. 299; "sealed up with seven seals," signifies altogether hidden (n. 300).

8. Et cum accepisset librum, quatuor Animalia et viginti quatuor seniores prociderunt coram Agno, habentes unusquisque citharas, et phialas aureas plenas suffitibus, quae sunt preces sanctorum.
9. Et canebant canticum novum, dicentes, Dignus es accipere librum et aperire sigilla ejus, quia occisus es, et redemisti Deo nos in sanguine tuo, ex omni tribu et lingua, et populo et gente.
10. Et fecisti nos Deo nostro reges et sacerdotes, et regnabimus super terra.
11. Et vidi et audivi vocem angelorum multorum circum thronum et Animalia et seniores; et erat numerus eorum myriades myriadum et chiliades chiliadum.
12. Dicentes voce magna, Dignus est Agnus occisus accipere potestatem et divitias et sapientiam et honorem et gloriam et benedictionem.
13. Et omne creatum quod est in caelo et in terra et sub terra, et in mari quae sunt, et quae in illis omnia, audivi dicentes, Sedenti super throno et Agno benedictio et honor et gloria et robur in saecula saeculorum.
14. Et quatuor Animalia dicebant Amen; et viginti quatuor seniores prociderunt et adoraverunt Viventem in saecula saeculorum.
