Potts(1905-1910) 2791

2791. Verse 5. And Abraham said unto his boys, Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the boy will go yonder, and we will bow ourselves down, and will come again to you. "Abraham said unto his boys, Abide ye here with the ass," signifies the separation of the former rational together with the natural at that time; "and I and the boy will go yonder," signifies the Divine rational in a state of truth prepared for the most grievous and inmost combats of temptations; the "boy" is the Divine rational in such a state; "and we will bow ourselves down," signifies submission; "and will come again to you," signifies conjunction afterwards.

Elliott(1983-1999) 2791

2791. Verse 5 And Abraham said to his servants, Remain here with the ass, and I and the boy will go over there, and we will bow ourselves down, and return to you.

'Abraham said to his servants, Remain here with the ass' means a separation at that point of the first rational together with the natural. 'And I and the boy will go over there' means the Divine Rational in a state of truth, equipped for the severest and inmost conflicts brought about by temptations, 'the boy' being the Divine Rational in that particular state. 'And we will how ourselves down' means submissiveness. 'And return to you' means conjunction after that.

Latin(1748-1756) 2791

2791. Vers. 5. Et dixit Abraham ad pueros suos, Manete {1} vobis hic cum asino, et ego et puer ibimus usque illuc, et incurvabimus nos, revertemur ad vos. `Dixit Abraham ad pueros suos, Manete vobis hic cum asino' significat separationem rationalis prioris cum naturali tunc: `et ego et puer ibimus usque illuc' significat Divinum Rationale in statu veri accinctum gravissimis et intimis tentationum pugnis; `puer' est Rationale Divinum in tali statu: `et incurvabimus nos' significat submissionem: `et revertemur ad vos' significat conjunctionem dein. @1 Heb. [ ] (lachem)=vobis, here=`with regard to you.'$
